Set in Los Angeles in 1962, at the height of the Cuban missile crisis. In A Single Man (based on Christopher Isherwood’s novel) British college professor (Colin Firth) struggles to find meaning to his life after the death of his long time partner, Jim. He is consoled by his closest friend Charley (Julianne Moore) who is also wrestling with her own questions about the future. Colin Firth is outstanding; deserving of his Oscar, Bafta and Golden Globes’ nominations for Best Actor.
